    (1 item)

This item came from Southern Virginia, in an area where many native artifacts are found, this particular piece had been siting in an old barn for an unspecified time, when I purchased it came with many layers of dust, dirt, and spider eggs. It has definitely been used over a fire, and has a great patina. The last picture is a close up of the inside, and hopefully it shows the bits of sand and quartz that are mixed into what I believe is Virginia red clay. My only misgivings about the item is the "fire ring" bottom, which I have mainly seen in traditional woks--it just seems odd to me. There is a very indelicate bit of decoration with possible small handle nubs. The item is 8 inches across and about 6 inches tall. I would love to hear any information or musings on the item. Thanks for looking and your feedback

Looks like what we call a coal pot for cooking.
