    Collectoma…
    (68 items)

3 & 3/4" inside, 5&3/4 inches outer. It is marked, Patent applied for. Made in England.
I have a few thoughts on what it might be used for but I could never say for certain. It's in perfect condition as though someone cared for it prior to my buying it in a thrift shop a few days ago for 99 cents.
    Thanks for looking.

Placed as in picture 1 you would put water in it for small, short stemmed flowers. The English glass companies Sowerby and Bagley both made posy bowls of a similar style in the 1920's and 1930's. I don't know who made this one though.

A posy bowl :). That's great to hear that. I can display it with my vases :)

looks like possibly a Bagley 'Andromeda' posy ring c1953:

I still have one lingering question as to why someone would apply for a patent on a flower dish. I though a patent was for something of an inventive nature.

Thanks everyone for loving one of my first posts. Sklo42 and Tallcakes gave me my first insight as to how valuable this site could be to me if I where to continue being a collector(maniac). So many brilliant minds in one place I thought and lots of info on new (old) things I've never seen before. I'm starting to feel a lot of pickers confidence throughout it all.
