    Lisa-light…
    (30 items)

This is a little bit of a show and ask and tell. ;o) I will state all the obvious things and ask those of you who know the really neat stuff to add on. Thank you.
This followed me home with the little salts. Granted not of the same pattern or even the same base glass I did feel that they would appear to belong on my dinning table as a threesome. This pair of marmalades are formed of Rubina glass, then threaded with clear threads and finally two rows of rigaree in Vaseline glass were added and tooled to form the top ruffle and the ring which would hold them in the proper silver plated frame. The frame that came with them makes that unnecessary because it is not fitted with rings but rather little dishes. I think that it will polish up but I have yet to do it and they do sit quite nicely in this married frame. The tells, are that the Vaseline ruffle which form the top can interfere with the handle, and as I mentioned the holders have bottoms.
Again I must thank Perfumer for this new addition to my collection, prior to this I did have a pitcher and tumblers of Rubina Verde glass which I do some times use at the table but these are the bees knees comparatively. ;o)
Thank you to taking a look at my new toys. I look forward to hearing from you.
    Sincerely,
    Lisa

Thank you so much, Sklo. How kind. Any ideas about the origin? Country, maker? Anything at all? I am pleased to have them regardless. I am just so pleased to learn new things about the love we share great glass of the past. ;o) Thank you too to all of you who took the time to come and look and who chose to click the love button. I appreciate your time.
      Sincerely,
      Lisa

Thank you Inky. Do you have any ideas about attribution? I am still not even sure about what country never mind a maker. I was just struggling with a book on Mount Washington or a reference to them but it is too late, so I had to give it up for today. It is funny but when you collect art glass shades you long to have the advantage that all the vase collectors and others have of the pontil. Is it improved? is it broken and there is a scar, or is it ground and if so how large is the area? and on and on. I am so envious when I read those posts. Shades as you know do not have that lovely tell. ;o) Now here I am with real pontil marks and still no clear and safe remarks to be grasped. Giggle. Such is this wonder world of collecting and the thirst that seems may never be quenched for the ever elusive attribution. I thought that the combination of the threading on these marmalades, with the rigaree and then that really cool cutting where the pontil may just have left it's mark. Surely that must give us enough lovely clues to lead somewhere. Time will tell. So on we go. Thank you for popping in. I so enjoy seeing your posts and hearing from you. I know there are not as many of us that are really fond of this Victorian art glass, it has perhaps become less popular with people in preference for the lovely modern works and the art nouveau glass and deco glass of Bohemian makers. I find it all interesting and will I think always have a real weakness for this Victorian eye candy. There is just something isn't there? Peggy likes it too and the person with the salts that started me down this track, Perfumer, yes that is it, Perfumer. A few of us I think will be drawn to the Victorian art glass as well.
I must shut up now and sleep.
      Sincerely,
      Lisa
