    This metal envelope I inherited from my grandmother. She always said these were used during the war when shipping letters overseas and she had sons who served in the wars back around the time this would have been mailed. It was postmarked, which made an indentation in the metal. The stamp on it is the 1939 Baseball Centennial issue (Scott #855). I have checked with several historians and antique dealers but have not found anyone who is familiar with or knows anything about this object. My grandmother had this as long as I can remember. Then it passed down to my mother and then to myself.

      Just to clarify - The postage stamp on that is not the Boys Club - it is the Baseball Centennial stamp I just posted one a couple of days ago on my board;

      It is described as a "cigarette case" in #4 link. The image shown can be seen on the aspireauctions site, several views.

      To aghcollect: You are so right! Someone had sent me the correct info on the stamp a while back. Not sure why I mixed that up. I've received replies that it is probably a cigarette case, or that the stamp could have been added at any time. I have been trying to find out more about the envelope. So far, it is as though it is the only one on existence from what I can find. Thanks for the heads up on the correction in the stamp though.
