This is one of the many trains that Grandpa has in his collection. Curious to know if anyone knows anything about this type and model? Cannot find any information, anywhere. It is heavy die cast and is signed, New One, Tokyo, Japan on the bottom. It is a electric track model with a car behind that states Chicago and Rock Island. Looks like a coal car. There was a whole series of New One Models imported in the late 1950, early 1960s by the Polk Brothers using the name Aristo-Craft. They imported an 0-6-0t through a 4-8-2. The loco and tender bodies were cast zinc alloy. The weakest parts were the siderods and cyclinders which would snap if much pressure was applied. These locos are frequently available on eBay.
New One Models did make the Aristo-Craft Models, but also manufactured train models for GHC & HO Train Co., which I believe were imported by Bernie Paul, who later started AHM. New One modeled a 2-8-0; 2-8-2; 4-8-2; 4-4-2; 4-6-0; 0-4-0 and 0-6-0 engines in HO scale. These were all very good looking models and ran extremely well. Some of the models suffered severe deterioration due to metal failure of the cast zinc. The 4-6-0 Camelbacks probably had the worst case of the metal failure.
Both Aristo-Craft and GHC imported models of the 0-4-0; 0-6-0; 4-4-2 and 4-6-0 engines. The Aristo-Craft 4-4-2 usually had a silver/gunmetal boiler on the front whilc the GHC was all black. GHC imported the 4-6-0 Camelback engines, which were CNJ #753. The Aristo-Craft 4-6-0 was a standard boiler type.
Aristo-Craft was the importer of the 2-8-2 Frisco Mikado and the 4-8-2 Mountain type, as well as the "Uncle Tom" and "Uncle Sam" old time Tank type engines.
New One Model Toy also made a number of HO scale freight cars including 40' single door boxcars, 50'ers, and stock cars. I built and still run several of them and I have parts left over from unfinished kits if anyone's interested
Further info re: New Model HO kits. In Canada they were marketed by Frew & Gordon under the brand name Pacific Pike and in the U.S. they were marketed as International Models.
The best place for info on this manufacture is HOseeker. Your own searches will be fruit full if you have access to old Morel railroad publications from the late 1950's and early 1960's. Look for there adds. Retailers names were Aristo-Craft. General Hobbies corp., GHC. HO train Co, HOT, or HOTCO. Silvine, American Hobby Center, AHC.

About the 2-6-0 posted. It is a New One model. It was released by Aristocraft as their 2-6-0 Thomas Rogers Mogul of the Civil War Period. It came in a few different road names. C&RI, Up CP.P&R, and C&A. These are the ones I know of, their can be more.
