I have come across this today in a joblot box upon cleaning it the green felt came off revealing these markings,1941 a.h and the swastika, as a joke I posted it on my face book asking if anybody new if hitler did pottery,

I was shocked to be told he was artistic and was very interested in Beatrice potter and had actually written to her

Can anybody else shed any light on this or as I thought is it just a joke
    Thanks for looking

Hi Arthur, how interesting. To think Hitler liked Beatrix Potter!

Sorry, just seen you're Gav not Arthur.

I think the comment was meant as a joke. Beatrix (not Beatrice) Potter, the British author of Peter Rabbit, had no connection with pottery. He did do paintings, however, and at one time wanted to be an artist.

Thanks for comments, sorry that was my spelling mistake this is comment I got on FB and I have googled it,it's confirmed but don't no what the vegetarian bits about lol
(He was a vegetarian as was Beatrix Potter, if you go to Hilltop in Lake District there is a copy of a letter he wrote to her in 1938)

It was made my a student in a pottery class and they wrote the date and put symbol inside . Not a factory made Lamp . While mold was still damp it was added before painted or fired . I am going to say it was a HS kid and not in 1941 who thought it would do just this , Sorry But I feel pretty certain on this one.

Manikin got to admit I didn't think for one minute it was factory made as its too amature, but still got some proffesionals impressed and there still looking into it, as the age does look right, not keeping my fingers crossed but it's very intresting

The clay they used from inside maybe be a clue as it does look crude not smooth and appears dark . I am thinking it was clay from outside USA .
