Okay, Here is a bit of a Mystery item. Yes, I just found this. I HAD to buy it because it was stunning, it was marked......and I have Never heard of the Company. This has such a 1950's style to it and such an eye-grabber. I have NOT seen another by this company. Obviously, it is NOT called Carmel due to the color.....LOL. Now there is a MONT-CARMEL, in Quebec ( or is it MOUNT CARMEL for spelling )so not sure IF that area and this piece could be related (???).

This is a very big Ashtray - about 9.25 inches across, and almost 2 inches deep with a VERY clear printed incised mark on the bottom saying:

    ~ ~ ~ ~ CARMEL 2375 CANADA ~ ~ ~ ~

Again, I could NOT find any info for CARMEL, Canada Pottery??

There is some another pottery maker with a hand-incised lettering of the word CARMEL - I found online. Those are believed to be from Carmel, California, but they do not know much about that company either

So is this a RARE PIECE of pottery from a short-lived Pottery marker here in Canada? I have NO idea. They mystery begins....

It looks so 1950's to me........and GREAT Ashtray Piece !!!!

Thanks for looking, and ANY info you know or can find is Greatly appreciated. Thanks again......

    ;-)

Thanks Manikin and Aghcollect for the fast flying fingers hitting the Love button

@manikin -- Thanks for the comment too! Yes the pic does not do justice for the size....I always say "Think of a 12 inch Ruler, when you think about Size Comparsion". As then that helps explain the photo size. Just a little over 2 inches LESS than a Ruler for Size. Pretty Big.

Yeah, this one is party size.....LOL

Finger crossed with finding more info on it....

Strangely, while surfing, I came across a Carmel Pointe Condo site in Richmond B.C. Built in 1986, It's strata number is 2375. Weird huh.

There is a Carmel, California, I believe it refers to Our Lady of Carmel, well actually refers to a mountain in Israel, but then with Catholicism was attached to the Virgin Mary, and then an order of nuns. So yours could have been made in a convent or monastery?

Cool link to the mountains in Isreal. Which would explain the Mont-Carmel monks monastery in Niagra falls Canada. It's a retreat that has workshops, a bookstore, and giftshops.

Found this on-line...might be someone talking about this, not ME ( it was in French ) so I translated it. I think someone was asking some info on it and I did not know nothing about it....Seems it is a Quebec Pottery Forum, etc:

Bye Ceramboce. """

      [ Translation ]:
""Hello Yvanoe, 2375 No doubt your ashtray "brown moiré" is indeed a product of the CB. Besides Philippe Lambert (who created or produced more than 90% of mussels) confirms it. Next to your room with the No. 162 front side, Lambert believes it is a "copy" of a piece of Beauce. This piece has nothing to do with how to make home "Beauce", not even for their prototype. In terms of the glaze is "brown" for your 2375 Walter Grenier, a former BC whose specialization has long been the application of glazes. The latter states that she is the glaze No. 84 and was known as "mottled brown." Your name "brown moiré" might as well be the right choice. Passing Walter Grenier of a "Great" to the CB will attend the meeting of the St. George ACCQ. Hoping these additional information part of your questioning. Bye Ceramboce.""
