I found this at a yard sale. Does anyone know anything about its possible date or style. I'm completely new to antiques. Thank you

Funny thing is I just picked up a similar trunk last week -- with a few variations. Mine has a patent date on the latches of 1875 so we will surmise that yours is probably from around that time period. Not sure what to call them other than small dome top trunk. maybe a another contributor can enlighten us on that front... either way a lovely example of this kind of trunk. Thank you so much for your time Trunkman. I think I unintentionally found an appreciation for chests. So interesting, the different styles and craftsmanship makers invested. I find myself staring at it trying to reflect how every nail, rivet, and carve was decided and what the life of the carpenter may have been like. It's like I own a little piece of history. Echos of days past giving it an intriguing warmth.
