I was thinking this silk painting was of oriental origin but not quite sure. Would this be considered silk tapestry, needlepoint, or what? Age? I really know nothing much about it. It's about 10 3/4" tall by 15 1/2" wide.

It is Crewel. Crewel work. I saw this listed up for bids on shopgoodwill's site last year. I almost bid, but boy I need another needlework kit like a hole in the head (I have many). It is crewelwork, it is probably mid-century & I'd guess 1930's 1940's. I could probably find out almost exactly the date if I had the work in my hand. Good luck, don't sell it. Any dollar value it has is in the subject matter of the work: a forest fire! Fantastic.
