    This stick pin is a very rare document on the plane on board of which Louis Bleriot crossed the Channel on 1909 July 25, opening the way to modern aviation!

    Sadly, the stem is shortened, but the intaglio, backed with mother of pearl, is intact.
    18ct gold, french eagle's head hallmark, 11/16" wide.

      Thank you Paul! I had this piece for 25 years before seeing another (on the link)...
      Bought it for peanuts then as French sellers knew nothing about reverse painted crystal intaglios :-)

      Love the History! Are you sure the stem is shortened? The one from your link says total length is 3 inches.

      @Bluboi: yes, cut and not sharp... Total length of mine is 1.3/4".
