I discovered this trunk on the curb in front of an old home in South Florida. I brought it home where it stayed in my garage for two years. I then brought it with me to Italy for 3 years (Navy) and now to Connecticut. Once I returned to the U.S. I took the trunk to Naples, Maine and had it restored at "Connie's Trunks". As you can see the restoration was expertly performed. We are extremely pleased with the work done.
As far as I know this trunk is from the late 1800's. I find it unique that the trunk has two locks and one clasp. Usually I see two clasps and one lock.
The measurements are W 22” X L 40” H 22 inches. If anyone has any additional info I would love to hear it.

It is a higher quality flat-top for its time. Usually you only see four staves on the top of these trunks and I am always on the lookout for one that has five as yours has. There are little extra touches of hardware on this that make it stand out -- and the maker decided, as you pointed out.. to go against the norm and reverse the lock latch order. Makes it just a bit more unique. Nice to see and thanks for the post!
Trunkman. I appreciate the feedback. I forgot to mention that the lock was from Eagle Lock Company. I was able to find a replacement key as well.
Do you have any insight on manufacturer of trunks this size, maybe the cross reference of having the lock made by Eagle could help narrow the results.

Rick -- Eagle lock company was a major manufacturer of trunk locks and most trunk makers ordered their parts including all hardware. This is also a relatively standard size of trunk. There is nothing on it that I can see to help identify maker and so many companies made this type and style -- this one with a few variations. Perhaps another contributor may spot something.
Hi, This is a very nice trunk refinishing.This trunk does have some nice features including the triple front slats,and double locks. I'm in agreement with T-man, many manufacturers of this type of trunk.Here is an adv., one with the triple slat option.

Hey Drill -- I missed the triple front slats -- good eye there...
Not really that rare, actually quite common as multiple manufacturers made thousands of these.Just a better made trunk than say... flat tops with only 4 slats on top and 2 slats on the front. Yours is a heavier duty trunk with 5 on top and 3 on the sides,the double locks confirm secure transport. Much luck!
