In amazing condition except the top is rusting on the inside. Anyone know the story on the green color? Original red paint underneath the green. I will get some better pictures when I get it out of there. Its not light!

Underneath the cooler there is a plate with the following information:
Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Co/ Designed for Coke in Bottles/ on the top right hand corner there is the number 39.
Does anybody have information on what the 39 means?

No, its not cut in half. Its a bottle cooler with all sides attached, has a plug in the bottom to drain the water from the ice, a handle on top to open the cooler and a bottle opener on the side to open the bottle. I am confused on why you would think it was cut in half? Honestly, I would appreciate no more comments from fifties 50's at all. I am a first time user and because I made a mistake and said one wrong sentence doesn't give you license to act so incredibly rude. I would hate to see every new user have you on their back and your trash talking the moment they post something. I am sure you are the all knowing king of antiques, but I honestly could go without your opinion. I made a mistake, I apologize, now can you go harass someone elses items? At least be knowledgeable about your comments next time because the cooler isn't cut in half. Like I said, I will post more pictures when I get it out of the unit.

I think you are right vintagebeforebeauty. Thank you for the comment...I will look into it. Does anyone know about the green color?

      c. 1940. Westinghouse made many sizes of Coca-Cola branded ice and electric coolers. The two smallest are Junior and Half Junior. The Half Junior was countertop. But it's not unusual to see Juniors without the lower half (bottle storage section). They get removed due to rust out or separated from the tub due to space limitations. fifties may be right, to me it looks a little big to be a Half Junior. Hard to tell. Better pictures and let us know dimensions, our crew should be able to help you solve your mystery item. As for the green, this would have been original red with white lettering, so somebody painted it green. I found one similar to yours up on eBay.

hi storageheiress, welcome to CW, you shouldn't take fifties50 comment so hard, it wasn't rude and he simply stated what he felt you have and a lot of people would think the bottom is cut off, your a little to sensitive and your response is not respectable, that said, you may have what they call a half junior cooler from the 1930's but its hard to tell from this picture. hope this helps.

I saw one of these restored @ a shop. In person they do look like someone cut a cooler in half. But after checking it is a real deal Westinghouse half junior and Daddy - nobucks hit the nail on the head .
But they do look home made when you first see one.

Some Coke coolers or machines will have a patent # and you can tell by the number the approximate date of that item. Google patent #'s to see the dates. This should help you in the future.
