    Has a hole in the nose which was repaired probably after removal of a gold ring? The hole in the back of the hat is part of the whistle ,you blow into his butt ,quite a loud piercing sound. Antique sense of humour!

      i don't think this is a pre-columbian piece as they don't have all those burnishing marks on them. the old ones were burnished much more carefully. i've seen replicas which look just like this.

      thanks for the comment .If it is a fake it has some history to the 1920's and had old repairs (egg white by the look of it)I disassembled it and restored it. A professor from Harvard who worked in Chan Chan and published in National Geographic said he couldn't be certain but it was possibly authentic. But you may be right!
