The style of foot on this example is likely one that can be found in the production of almost every Czech glass maker. There is nothing that I can see which would point reasonably to any specific house. Personally, it seems like kind of a "blind leap" to get to Rückl as an attribution based on that detail.
    8. welzebub welzebub, 9 years ago
The comment referring to a Rückl attribution, to which I am responding, have been removed from the post.
    9. antiquerose antiquerose, 9 years ago
      Ohhh.....comments were removed??

I did not even get to see them, nor did I remove them. So a little lost in left field here....LOL

I take it -- there was Wrong Attribution somewhere - No problem
    10. welzebub welzebub, 9 years ago
The attribution was based on a "resemblance" of the foot on this vase to the foot on a known Rückl shape. I disagreed and the poster seemed to take umbrage at my disagreeing. Here is a link to the shape that was being used to connect your vase to Rückl. It is the 10 inch tall blue piece in the front of the case.

Oh okay....No problem. Stuff happens....LOL. Who is the maker of this piece, and the date - If known.

Thanks for the explanation Craig !
    12. welzebub welzebub, 9 years ago
Honestly... I do not know who made it.... I do not know that the décor, or the shape have ever been linked to any maker using supportable evidence........ I would date it to the 1920's most likely.
    13. antiquerose antiquerose, 9 years ago
Okay Dokey.....Mystery Maker remains. Will be on the look-out for an ID....LOL....fingers crossed

      Thanks.....and something older than ME

If people had put half as much time and effort into actually researching Rückl as they have in this forum trying to question and criticize Welz research, we would have a substantially better idea of what Rückl actually produced.

I have actually done some research work on their glass, but have not shared any of the results yet, as their is not enough to have any meaningful impact at this point. As an example, I have tried for over 3 years now, to accumulate actual examples of the pieces in the Rückl poster in DBG by Passau. I have only seen and identified a small fraction of those few pieces.

"I do have a concern about the scrutiny and amount of attention some members get for their posts or comments in the Bohemian glass category."

It is my own personal opinion that had you been involved in Bohemian glass long enough in CW to see the extreme personal attacks directed at Welz research and collectors that have occurred and been deleted in this forum over a 2.5+ year period, you may have come to a much better understanding of why some peoples "opinions" are questioned regularly...... especially when those "opinions" seem to be "agenda driven" at many times....
    15. welzebub welzebub, 9 years ago
I am sorry for your loss.... one of my best friends died suddenly 2 months ago...... It does put things in perspective......

I certainly take no offense at people having an interest in other glass than Welz.... guess what?? I do also. I collected and studied glass for a long time before Welz popped up.....

I think you may have been given an incorrect impression by some, as to my motivation behind studying it and discussing it.... it is purely out of an interest in advancing the knowledge of their production, and for the benefit of myself as a collector, and others that are interested. No one had appeared to look at it seriously.... I thought someone should...... and I had no idea of what I would find.... It was literally an accident.....

Although you may have been told a small amount, I will be as bold as to say that in all probability, you really have no concept of even a fraction of what has gone on.. It did not occur "years ago" as you said.... it started years ago and still continues..... Much less now than before, but it still persists on occasion..... Sadly, it was rooted in matters not involving research, and was drug into the world of glass research and Welz in several public forums, and also private "venues" which good friends made me aware of.

I am not here to discuss the matter in great detail, as I have left much of it behind me for the most part..... except of course when one of the parties decides they have left it alone long enough and they need to stir it a bit.....

I am here solely because I enjoy sharing what I know, or think I know..... If I disagree with things that are said, I will always voice a opinion..... I am not "giving back what I received"... I would not treat people the way I have been treated...... anyone that knows me well would also tell you that....... and not just me, but some people who openly supported me were targeted also...... I am voicing a dissenting opinion.... people that know me outside of forums such as this that communicate directly with me can tell you that sharing knowledge and discussing opposing opinions is something I enjoy and is at the basic core of who I am and what I do. They will also gladly tell you that it is not in my nature to tolerate poor behaviors...... especially publicly and aimed at me.... I will to a degree........ but have my limits.... but I know that and accept that it is just my nature also....

I even tried leaving the forum at one point quite a while back... I was gone for several months after having CW delete my account...... figuring that my absence and silence would quell the activity..... guess what.... it didn't..... it ramped up.....

As many that know me well though the years understand.... I am not the "silent type". Never have been.... never will be....
