Phänomen Genre (PG) 166, along with PG 6893, are the earliest of the Phänomen Genres introduced by Loetz in 1898. PG 166 was found in virtually all available ground colors, decorated with combed silver threads and finished with an excised border around each "flame". The ground is light green with accent patches of "Maron verlaufend" (spreading chestnut). Size is about 10.25" tall. The colors and details of this piece are incredibly subtle and have to be seen in person to truly be appreciated.

For more examples of this decor in other colors and shapes, see the PG 166 page on Loetz.com:

Deb and I had this very one in our hands a couple of weeks ago. Glad you got it, Warren.

Thanks, Dave - I've had my eye on it for a while - seeing it in person sealed it for me.

Very nice example! I bet it's much nicer with sun light or such on it, probably really comes to life.

It is swellegant. I can see why you had to have it follow you home. It would be irresistible. Does it sing in the sunshine as Brian suggested? Thank you for sharing it here.
      Sincerely,
      Lisa
