My 97 year old mother has had these lamps since the 1930's or 1940's. After WWII, people would not buy from the Japanese that were in the US and a local merchant was forced to go out of business. My mother purchased these lamps and many other items from him. Evidently, he told her these particular lamps would be valuable some day. I thought they may be Satsuma, but I've never seen anything like the carved base of the lamps.

Lovely lamps and welcome to CW.
Is anything written on the bottom of the wood base and are you able to remove the porcelain section to look for marks under there? If so, a photo of any marks would help our experts a lot. Thanks.

There are no markings on the bottom or inside the porcelain part of the lamps and the base is not wood, but metal. The metal is not carved, but appears to be hand stamped using a template. It is my understanding that design templates were often used to create hand forged designs. The top of the lamp is metal with a beaded look edging. The metal base shows signs of rust. Thanks for your help. Regards, Fran
