it appears to be English and it is stoneware, I could be wrong .... the dating on this could maybe mid to late 1800's . lets see what others say!!!

Sean's right .... Check out English Registration marks.
There are two different sets explained here:

Bingo Sean68, found it's a registration mark. Maker is outside of diamond hard to read but believe it says T. F. A. & Co? So now I know it is english from Aug 30th 1845 based on this Registration Mark!

The top mak is IV for pottery.
Underneath the IV will be either a letter or a digit.

In your case it will be a letter so read the set titled 1842-1867.

The rest of the marks can be read from there.

Thanks All! that Mark site gave me the Exact date of production, but I hesitate to believe this authenticity when there is clearly a seam which I think tells me this was made from a mold?
      What do you think?

Fake or Real, That is the question? Now that I understand the mark, I am suspect of this being from the 1800's?

"OLD KING COLE, WAS A MERRY OLD SOUL, A MERRY OLD SOUL WAS HE
HE CALLED FOR HIS CUP, HE CALLED FOR HIS BOWL, AND HE CALLED FOR HIS FIDDLES THREE" ( There he is with his cup)
You have a depiction of OLD KING COLE from the very, very old English Nursery Rhyme!! How sweet is that! WONDERFUL!!
