These are fabulous! These two Borghese French prints with oval gilt frames are thought to be of the earlier examples of Borghese collectible art pieces, often referred to as "panels." One is of Don Juan and the other of L'Etourdi. I believe them to be wood instead of cast plaster but I'm not certain. The frames are speckled and in excellent condition. The prints are full color and according to a collector:

"some very early examples labeled "borghese" actually contain authentic 19th century monotone and colored engravings which were pasted into wood frames, under glass or cast plaster frames and then laquered over with varnish. The wood framed examples are probably of the earliest manufacture and usually have the highest value. The backs of the wood framed prints are usually covered with a brown paper upon which the "borghese" label is pasted." ("Uncle Griff" on Collecting Borghese Cast Antique Decorative Arts.)

These do indeed have the heavy brown/terra cotta paper backing upon which the "Borghese" label is located, as seen in the listing photos, supporting my thought that these are indeed among the oldest and most valuable Borghese Collectibles. Amazing!
