In 1872 Albert Schoenhut began producing toy musical instruments in Philadelphia. In 1903 the Schoenhut company began production on the Humpty Dumpty Circus which lasted until 1935. This was a very popular toy, and each year new animals and circus people were added. Individual pieces could be bought seperately, or whole sets could be purchased. All of the figures were jointed and could be posed. A canvas tent was also available to place the figures under to make it more realistic.
