I've had this 9" pair of candlesticks since before I seriously started collecting glass. I noticed a similarity in style to Emile Gallé faience, and knew from reading that Gallé had spent time at St. Clément. They weren't very expensive, but the seller did try to imply that the Gallé connection existed in this pair. He was correct, but not directly.

According to Nancy 1900 - Jugendstil in Lohringen, published by the Munich City Museum, tin-glazed pieces of this type with this mark (SCt- with KG below) dated from 1892, at which point the Saint-Clément factory merged with Keller & Guerin in Lunéville. So while these date to a time at which Emile Gallé had long moved on to his own operation, the line to which it belongs was produced based on designs from the 3rd quarter of the 19th century being carried out in both Saint-Clément and Lunéville, and continued to be made even after the merger of the two firms.

So while there is no direct connection to Emile Gallé, the influence seems apparent.

Stunning candle sticks. Maybe the design were already in use at the company but had not be sold at that stage & he could not take them with he under contract. Just a thought
