I bought this at an estate sale today. I have always loved whales and loved the movie Moby Dick. I have no idea about this statue/carving except for the marking on the tail .It is 14 inches long and 3 inches wide ,very heavy for the size so I know it's not wood

It looks to me to be whalebone. I've seen a few whales done in whalebone, most about half the size of yours.

I have a literally identical whale down to the anchor mark but missing the base. Have you learned anything about it?
