    Person in the shop thought it may have been south american. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Going to rewire and use as a desk lamp.

      At first look I thought Dutch Gouda pottery but then I looked more carefully at the top and saw those prunts ....
      It has to be AMPHORA.

      A photo of the bottom and the marks is necessary to be sure though.
