1850s photos on glass using silver and mercury ... daguerreotype with a THISTLE case (2 of 2 of the same man)
These types of photos are some of the neatest and hard to find. To find a pair of the same man is really cool.
Is this a Daguerreotype or a Ambrotype?
"Unlike a daguerreotype, an ambrotype image can be seen when viewed from all angles. For this reason the process became popular, even though the finished result lacked the detail and tonal range of the daguerreotype."

Thank you SEEKER and OFFICIAL FUEL.
It is an Ambrotype.
Daguerreotypes have a mirrored silver appearance and disappear when seen at certain angles.
