Here is a beautiful (maybe German, late 1800's) handled vase. It is clearly marked (stamped, incised, and hand marked in gold) but I haven't been to identify the mark. Can you help? THANKS. Joey

I think this is English Staffordshire. The impressed mark reads Forester.

We have a Thomas Forester piece that is marked with the same 'f' within a six point star, this is the only other piece I have found with the same marking in all my years of research. Does anyone know what it means?
Hi Alser. Thanks for your post. Hmm don't know. Perhaps a decorator's mark, but that's just a guess.
I have found its approximate production age. According to my research because there is no LTD within the Phoenix logo it is somewhere between 1883-1891. However I cannot find any references to the mark on the bottom an 'f' within six pointed star. I researched most of the potteries employees and most renowned artists and their names do not even have the letter f in their name. I also asked around the UK, Aus art galleries but no one has been able to give an answer. Perhaps the mark is Forester himself or one of his sons?
