I found this beautiful piece at an estate sale. I love the pale lavender color of the glass! I think it may be crystal as it does give a lovely pinging sound when tapped. The piece sits 11" tall with the cover. There are some air bubbles, most notably in the pedestal. I'm not sure who the maker is - it is unmarked. I cannot find a similar piece on any searches. Any ideas?

This is EAPG (Early American Pattern Glass), and the manganese in the glass has caused the glass to 'sun-purple' due to over exposure to ultraviolet rays. This is considered damage by serious EAPG collectors, tho' there are collectors who like the color. Your compote is the 'Royal' pattern made by Bryce, Higbee & Co. c1885.

Thank you so much TallCakes! That is fascinating that it will turn lavender from the sun! I think I like the purple hue ; )
