    (100 items)

Two photos to show my new broochs

    The first I call flame.....
And if I say it unofficialy I call it the Olympic Flame...
A beautiful scoop of rhinestone crystals with a red square of stones to pull it together... just lovely. Possibly 1970's....

The end photo is the heart and AB crystals made in Germany, has Made In Germany. I think set in 14 or 18 karat gold. And possibly around 1930's...just gorgeous

Just a thought: If the last pin has AB stones, it probably dates rather to the 1950’s or later. Could it be that the stones have been put in later? I have not found real gold jewelry with AB crystals yet.
I love pins and brooches of all shapes and styles! Yours are very beautiful:)

thats ok, I'm using AB more as a licence as they are more crystal type rhinestone things...def gold though as the clasp is spot on and for the date...

They do appear to be AB stones, as freiheit noted it is interesting to AB with gold.

I agree with Nuts and Mike! Both simply beautiful.
I hope you are wearing your new jewelry Anne - nothing like a fantastic brooch to make you feel special.

Xi am very confused by the "AN" gold brooch. I deliberately put it out there as I knew anything in the 30s with Made In Germany and with gold and with AB was going to ruffle some feathers . You see in the 1950s anything made in Getmany I believe had to have east or west Germany. You will see on clocks and other jewellery of the time. But please let me research as I'm heading off to chemo and if like to see what the years were before getting in contact with the Powerhouse Museum ! I'll post again tonight when I get home to see how I go. But I'll also post the back with the clasp. I am pretty good at picking gold and non. Keep you posted. :)

      STUNNING Pieces!
Don't think it's that much of a mystery. So many people have been doing DYI projects with old jewelry for so long now it's not only possible but probable that someone didn't realize what they had and subbed AB stones.
Also people did take out their stones and sell them lose, especially in that error as that needed the money.
I too have handles hundreds of thousands of pieces of vintage and antique costume jewelry alone and am becoming more aware that I need to look for these things.
Some times when they don't add up they actually do add up, and easily. Unless we go looking for Zebras where there are horse ;)

i love what youve written Di. I suppose because I collect immoveable objects like vases I hadnt considered that someone may have created their own...I felt like ppl here thought I was pulling the wool over the eyes as we say by making it up...we do from time to time get collectors who come and say b is b unless its b....LOL
Thank you, youve made my day...and do you need my address fr any discards...lol

      LOL LOL too cute Anne!
No way! You can see the bones are old and gorgeous! When most things, like rhinestones, or even crystal, would have automatically made us & even jewelers believe the bones were imitations or reproductions
( having seen the stones of course not bothering to test ) of pieces like this , hmmm just a mere 10-15 years ago now just isn't so.
I have found real stones in costume pieces over the last couple of decades! Some people needing money sold gold settings, someone else saw loose stones in a draw usually when cleaning out a relatives house who passed, thought surely they had to be rhinestones, meanwhile they are putting real rubies emerald etc. in costume pieces, giving or selling them.

Very interesting, trusted.couple. I learned something:)

iñg again my theory of not trusting photos but trusting my own gut feeling. I felt like ppl thought I was stating something as a lie or because I didn't know what I was talking about. It's awful when you put something up you're proud of or think genuinely you have something of esrlier agency or potentially of higher quality...you feel like you've done something wrong.

I was pretty upset about this one I might say. Got the standard email from-

Now I feel proud again that my judgment is correct. Took me a while to get someone looking at it without blinkers on...:) ...thanks again adi...

I wish I could take you to a nice cafe and tcottage for afternoon tea Di. Instead I will most likely get some rest. This chemo is taking its a littke....
    12. katherinescollections katherinescollections, 9 years ago
So the stones may be AB but that doesn't mean the setting can't be gold. Glad that trusted.couple confirmed your judgment, even if there was no need. :)
    13. AnneLanders AnneLanders, 9 years ago
Katherine the stones are AB and the setting is gold....
that was the mystery. And the lovely Di has solved it for me...thanks...by the way, I asked you a question on my floriform and I posted a while back on yours in answer to the question you asked around my tall floriforms as well as my Kraliks next to them I think, we whatever it was I ansered your question several times. Hope this helped!!!
