    I think possibly this is a type of ebony. It is very heavy and has a beautiful patina and warmth in the wood. The carvings all around show what looks like men kneeling/ bowing. It seems tribal and measures 19 cms D. That's all that I know. Hope you like it.

      surfdub66, I checked out carved lignum tiki on internet, yes you could be right there. I don't consider myself a wood piece collector but some pieces just need a home! and this impressed me with its beautiful colour. Lynette. :)
