Majolica Bird Vase/Wall Pocket - Vintage?

This looks like a cross between a chicken/rooster and a peacock. Hand painted. There is an impressed mark on the back but I've not been able to decipher it yet. No damage whatsoever on this piece. I bought this from yet another thrift shop in my area for less than $5.00. I soaked it, washed it and hung it on my wall.
