Indeed, I will be framing this one! This watercolor measures 23 x 18. It is hinge mounted on a mat. The colors and scene are beautiful.

The piece is signed "ALIREZA '86." It seems that Alireza is a Persian first name. I have searched the works of several artists named Alireza, but have not found any with work similar.

    Thank you in advance, Sunnybrook

      A lovely, moody watercolour.

Thank you racer4four! I like that,.... "moody." It makes me think of the total quiet you find when the power is out after a snow (that is until someone turns on a generator!). My parents place was in a similar setting along a river in Washington state.

I've owned 2 Alireza watercolors since I bought them from him at Moscone Center in San Francisco back in 1982 or 1983. They are both signed, dated '82. He was a very interesting Middle Eastern man. He said his wife was also an artist. If my memory is correct, she painted flowers. I know one I considered buying from her was of calla lillies. Both of them were showing their artwork at the Moscone Center during the Harvest Festival that was held there in those early years. His two paintings have graced my dining room wall for the years since.

      ometto,

Thank you for your comments. Do you know his last name? There are quite a few painters with the first name of Alireza. I found a similar painting with the same signature on line. The post stated it was an artist named Ali Golkar. When I searched for his work, it did not resemble my watercolor at all.

I have just had my painting framed..... The framer has it ready, I have not had a chance to pick it up. Very excited to see it on my fresh painted walls!

Yes, I still have his card on the back of one of my pieces. It says "Alireza C. Golkar original watercolors." He was in Van Nuys, California, back then. Now I see that there is an online presence, copyrighted 2000, as "Ali Golkar." It lists his email address as: ali@aligolkar.com and a phone number: 818-865-0504.
But, again, this shows that the site is from 2000.
All of his work on that site is very different from yours and mine. My 2 pieces are very similiar to your piece in style, color, and subject matter. Even the signatures match, except for the fact that mine say '82 and yours says '86. But, then, our pieces were from nearly 2 decades earlier, so his style has changed.
