I bought this bead necklace as well. It is 65 cm long (25,6 inches) and has some weight to it. The clasp is broken and the temporary mending that someone has done seams to be somewhat old not new. The beads are glass, any ideas about these would be grate.
The beads are green with brown/black spots and there are knots between the beads. I think it is of some quality but I have no idea about age or origin.

Beautiful flapper's length necklace, I've never seen a stone like this!
Examine it extensively with a loop, seeking if there is any bubble in it, it may be a kind of glass :-)

That is really pretty! I'm a bit partial to green things, anyway... To me, the beads resemble a sort of malachite glass. Hold a strong light up to the beads and see what they look like all lit up. It is quality. :-) I wonder if the barrel clasp is original or just the temp repair.

OAS - I wonder what sort of original clasp was on it. All in all, it's a fine piece of jewelry.

Hi Elizabeth. First thing I thought when I saw these was Malachite, but only because it looks like what I've seen on eBay but i don't own any. It's very nice.

Hello dear jewelry friends! I am happy for all ideas and responses you have given me. I have thoroughly gone over all beads again with a loop and found a few tiny bubbles so this is a glassbead necklace. Looking at the knots that hold the rest of the clasp the nearest thing is to think that it is the original one, but ofcourse it's a possibility that it's not. The type of boxclasp refered to here would look nicer ofcourse. I'll try to find an old one to buy somewhere and that will be a renovation project to look forward to.

Thankyou kyratango, oldandsilly, efesgirl and vintagefran for input and ideas and love.

You're very welcome! I suspected glass too :-)

Yes you did Kyratango, that's why I went over the necklace with the loop again :)

I just posted a similar necklace! Check it out. It has a box clasp.
    14. Elisabethan Elisabethan, 9 years ago
Yes Valentino I think you might be right that it's imitating jade. Thanks :).
BetteLew thankyou, your necklace is very nice. Is it also glass?
