Like my previous post this too has cobalt glass as its base but the range of colours in the spatter is greater. Also like the previous one there is no clear casing so there is surface relief.

I don't know the maker and I don't expect that to change.

    Height 25 cm./9.75 inches Base/Rim Diameter 7.5 cm./3 inches

This and the rose bowl are so colorful! :)

Very nice vase, different from others,I particularly like its classical shape brought out by extended pieces of spatter glass.Seems to be more colourful than "ordinary spatter".

Thank you, Katherine......perhaps you like splashes of colour too!
    4. sklo42 sklo42, 9 years ago
It is an unusually restrained shape for spatter vases......but then it makes up for that, as you say, by including more colours than usual.....thanks Ivonne.

I always think of this type of spatter as 'end of day' glass...am I wrong? :-S
    10. welzebub welzebub, 9 years ago
"End of day" is a term that was used for this type of glass for a long time. It was thought by some that these were made at the end of the day from scraps of glass from the days production. We know that to not be true. Although the term has seemed to stick, it does not accurately describe spatter décors which were intentionally designed combinations of colors.

Hi Craig. I read that they're not literally end of day glass, its just this type of spatter, with surface relief, is what I think of as End of Day. I guess the first time I came across it it was probably described as such & has stuck with me ever since. I'll try to refrain from using the term as it's incorrect.

It has almost become a generalized term and commonly accepted.... :-) Like aventurine is to sparkly stuff in glass :-)
    13. Vintagefran Vintagefran, 9 years ago
Indeed:) Does aventurine only come in green? just out of curiosity, may I ask if this type of spatter, with a rough surface, have a name or term to differentiate it from other spatters which are smooth, like 'oil spot'?
    14. welzebub welzebub, 9 years ago
This type of spatter does not currently have any kind of name I am aware of.

Aventurine comes in green, and also seems to include any types of metal foils also used in glass, whether it be Bohemian Italian or others. Originally the term only referred to copper inclusions in Italian glass.
