I was at an auction and I think everyone thought it was bicycle seat but I knew better .
It was to big or long to be from a bicycle seat it had to be some kind of an early seat still adorned with original or original type leather and the leather was thicker than bicycle seat leather seat on any old or new bicycle frame.
I figured it was an old motorcycle seat . Turns out older than I thought,
late 19th century or until about 1908 because the way the seat springs are set.
The old style are coil springs set horizontally small at front larger at the back.
It looks like after 1908 the (rear springs) were generally vertical coiled seat springs rather than the old fashioned bicycle seat adapted to a modern motorcycle or contemporary at the time.
It was originally nickel plated and has some rust.

I came up with a few images and I think it is from a orient Aster orHildbrand Wolfmuller motorcycle style and date seems to match.
Right around 1904 or slightly earlier .
    Cheers
