This is a 1992 pedal car, Dune Buggy, Model "D" #97 no idea how many made the car is rated to 80 kilos, it is 1170 long about 700 wide and is on 2.50-4 pneumatic wheels. It has a hand brake and an interesting set of safety rules to be followed.

The chassi is almost meccano like, but is almost all welded not bolted together.

It was made in Adelaide, Australia in Prospect, I believe, the company as far as I know is no longer open. Unusual to find such a solid and expensive construction in pedal car especially around 1990s.

This would of been ideal on a farm or property or along the beach with the larger tyres and solid construction, as it is now, it weighs over 20 kilos That's solid!

I picked it up as you see it for a very good price and what you see in the pictures and above is all I know. It doesn't come with many panels at all except the small one on the front, but I know there should be one over the drive axle and a seat also.

If anyone has any info on this it would be great I would like to actually see an original if possible bit have had no luck googling.

Not sure where to for it from here, I think, restoration would be nice, being a local piece and having never seen such a unit it may be nostalgic.

Cheers and look forward to any information you can supply

Hi, I can tell you a bit about this pedal car. I have one the same, but with all the original parts. You're missing the seat and a few panels, as you suggested. I bought one in the 90s also, they were manufactured by Sharman Sheetmetal, in Gilles Plains (North-East Road) Adelaide. I knew the owner of the company well, and he designed and made these cars originally for a kids club that he used to run at his local church. He was a lovely man, who sadly passed away around 10 years ago. While his company still exists, it is owned by someone else now, and he ceased manufacturing the pedal cars around 2000, due to escalating insurance costs. They are very well made though, as kids love them. I can send you a photo of a complete one if you like.

      Hi
The person employed at the company and designed and actually made the pedal cars and I had a discussion as he was looking for one for his son. I had two a complete one and the one shown when we spoke. So I sold him one and gave him the other on the proviso that he remade them both for his family. It was great to talk to him and to know that he original maker was to rebuild for his own family.
