Two primitive cutting tools found at bottom of an old tool chest. Were rusted bad, soaked in vinegar and this is what turned up. Both are 5.5" long x 2" tall. The top/dbl blade one has a flat edge on one side and a scooped edge on the other, both are very sharp..

The flagpost style one is not as sharp as the double.

For wood: Thinking the hump piece could be hammered into a cut cleft first, then the flag tucks into the hump (middle area) and is hammered and pulled to the side using leverage to make the split run.

Very cool handmade tools. The top one was made from an old file.

Could also be used as a wedge as well as splitting.

Consider farriers tools. Possibly "clinchers" or caulk cutters?
