These entered my family about 40 or 50 years ago. I have no idea of its history and it only came to light when someone passed away. They are a pair, male and female. Absolutely exquisite, the male is larger, maybe about 78cm in height...... would love it if someone could tell me anything about what they are, where /when they are from

I would say they are Chinese for sure By their style of dress date range 1900-1930 but I am guessing on the age could be older still learn about Chinese items . This website can help with iding the mark have a lot of info on oriental antiques and a large marks section. An you can also get help in the forums. http://www.gotheborg.com/index.htm

Thanks grendel67. I am trying to get my head around the stamp, but so far have had no luck. It isn't even about wanting to value or sell, I just would like to know something about them. I will also check the forums.
