Found this in an old shed on my property. My Dad was the second owner of the land since it was cleared and settled. The barn on the property dates to 1889. This round wooden thing is so sculptural! It is relatively light in weight. It is 15 inches in diameter and 2 ¾ inches thick. There seems to be metal remains in the very middle. Any guesses what it might be?

Looks it may be a "deadeye" for rope rigging on old ships. They are heavy wood in my experience though.

Thanks for the ideas so far. Is there a possibility this could be the wheel that churns butter in a mechanical butter-churn?

Another fact about this round thing- It shows little signs of wear or use. The bits missing seem to be i. animal related and ii. chunks lost to dryness and splitting.

It really does look like a pump impeller. Maybe thinking in that direction.
