This knife was in my grandmothers curio cabinet, any info on it would be appreciated. The guard is brass as are the rivets.

    Found in my grandmothers curio cabinet, brass guard, rivits, and full length tang, wood handles. Any information or help in identifying the era it is from, etc will be greatfully appreciated.

      hand-forged blade... That's something. I love old stuff. I sure hope someone can point to a period for that.

      She lived in Kansas, she was a descendant of Col. Garret Van Meter from the Revolutionary War. I have no idea if it could date that far back or not.

      I was thinking handmade too will be really hard to pin that one down if not impossible. It does show some age so it is vintage. The point looks a bit like bowie style, clip point I believe. Could be 75 years could be 175.
