    I bought this chair from a the estate of an antique dealer who had collected for years, I know it's a ladder back with rush seat,the son didn't have a clue what type chair this is so I'm asking furniture collectors do you have any idea who maker,is it shaker?

      Id say that is called a "ladder-back" chair, with woven rush seat.

      I know it's a ladder back chair sorry forgot to put that in my description,but trying to find out if it's shaker or who the maker is but thanks PostCardCollector

      It is not a Shaker chair. Shaker furniture is modest and functional to represent the simplicity of their lifestyle. The Shakers did not include carvings or anything ornamental on their furniture. The carvings, whether hand or machine made, on the back supports of your chair are victorian, or eastlake style. You chair is a combination of different styles. From here it looks mass produced post 1900. You may never find the maker unless it has a tag, sticker, or stamp somewhere on it. Thanks for sharing.
