Ok, I have a problem! I got this at an auction with some other stuff and it was with a TON of railroad stuff but I can't find anything about this item online ANYWHERE!! I was hoping that someone on here might know what the heck this thing is? The ONLY markings on it is on the front and it has an "F" but it looks like the "F" is sitting inside a "V"?? idk, please someone tell me what kind of flashlight or lantern this is? Thank you! Much appreciation!

could be really old. used in mines?or on railroad to signal trains coming or changing tracks. it looks like it's got a hanger,so i guess it is made available when needed that way.i like old railroad stuff.old trains, but can't afford them.
it looks to have cover for the face of it. why though,oh to put flam out.right? thats got to be really really old.maybe 1900-1920's or 1930's. i can only guess.
