This is a pretty good-sized Cookie jar - absolutely beautifully made. not sure if it is porcelain, but it sure does shine like porcelain. perfect condition. from goodwill today!

Very nice cookie jar, ho2cultcha! CanyonRoad will be able to tell you more about this pot, I suspect he will tell you the same thing about it as he did my pot, that those are Native American symbols and names used on greenware, perhaps made by Mesa Verde or some other pottery in the Southwest, for the tourist trade.

thank you katherinescollections and racer4four! i think that this is a modern Native American piece by the signature, although i don't know what Ute W.M.P. stands for. ?? there is a fairly large native urban population here in Oakland, from many Western tribes.

Looks like you found the maker. As for the name, I defer to CanyonRoad, it may be as with mine, that the names are the people who either did the decor or checked the pots, in other words sort of generic rather than a unique artist. But again, I defer to CanyonRoad's greater expertise in this area.

i think the W.M.P. stands for White Mesa Pottery, but not sure.
