Old ash tray missing handle. From the 30s or early 40s. It is about 30 inches tall. Anyone know where I might find a handle or company that made this? I think it was brown & painted green to match an old lamp. Thanks!

The ones I remember were always black and I think cast iron. That looks like the original ash tray tho. I think you may be able to have a handle made if you locate a place that makes security doors and gates. Good luck.

It is the original ashtray. I think it's been painted; believe it was brown. Thanks shareurpassion!

That is called a pedestal ashtray. If you research that, you will find a wide assortment of them. Some fancy and some plain. There were a number of companies that handled them/sold them, including Sears and Wards.
