18oo's Self sealing ink bottle/well ... Fine wood, tight seal, hand blown glass, QUALITY MADE.

In the days before ball points and even fountain pens existed the need to write. Ink was important and a step above the feather quill were dip pens. But what good was a dip pen or even a quill if you had no ink. This was turned on a lathe, but not a modern one. The work of the wood is top quality. The glass insert is blown glass and fits inside and is not removable. With the lid screwed on, (wood threads) it fits against the lid exactly to make the seal.
