These came to us from my wife's maternal grandmother. She said they were all that remain of her paternal grandmother's "good dishes". There was a fire at her grandparents farm and almost everything was destroyed. These two pieces are all that they were able to salvage. I have tried to research the maker and have not had any luck. I'd love to find the age and pattern name., and maybe someday a matching plate or platter to place behind them in the china cabinet.

Having spent a while scrolling through: https://www.google.ca/search?q=devonshire+pottery+marks&client=ubuntu&hs=knN&channel=fs&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0CBwQsARqFQoTCNXmvvLjk8gCFREDkgodzzIErw&biw=1700&bih=868
I saw ooodles of potters marks from Devonshire in the south of England. I might go as far as to suggest you do a search on e-Bay U.K. Your pieces look Asian and Deco, but that's just what I see.
There is a potter/china maker names Clarice Cliff, but she seems to have done most of her work in the north of England. A very eclectic mix of Staffordshire pottery as well as deco, and her "Bizarre" pieces.
I enjoyed looking for Devonshire pottery.

It would seem like the pattern name is 'Devonshire' if you look at this backstamp... https://www.etsy.com/listing/215845208/plate-cliff-pattern-dark-blue

Cliff could be the name of the pottery but it could also be a trade name. There is mention of Cliff Pottery of Staffordshire from one seller but i can't find any reference on the Staffordshire pottery website. Still a mystery.
