I found this item in a 89 plus year old building. It's from a commercial building fire door. It still has the luiqid in it. I'm not sure actually how old it is. But I do know the company that made this has been out of business since 1925. And I can not find any company that will give me any information on it

Being that it was on a fire door and has that liquid filled capsule, I'd say its a heat sensitive release mechanism. When the capsule gets hot it melts or shatters and allows the two eyes to move relative to one another. Probably kept the door locked or closed under normal conditions and unlocked in a fire condition. I hope this helps. rogerww

Any idea if it a collectors item or the value of this?
