I'm always finding these little mother animals w/ babies on chains! who made them? this one seems a bit older than most. At first i thought it was just a cat w/ kittens, but then i realized that it's a manx cat w/ kittens! we had one when i was little and they are strange cats! they have very long backlegs and hop around - almost like rabbits.

    here's another one i posted a while back: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/75386-funny-green-dog-w-two-green-pups

They are weird cats for sure - like you say, long long back legs.
I know that the Japanese produced a lot of these "chained" sets but whether others did also I don't know,

..most likely a MANX cat like you said.....

Bobcats have short tails too --BUT I DO NOT THINK they would have a ribbon around their necks like these do......LOL. Just saying when I looked at the pic, first I thought of Bobcats......DOH

thank you racer4four and antiquerose! this is a pretty good piece. there are people who love all things manx out there and this is pretty old and unique.

The chained sets were made as carnival prizes, mostly, ho2cultcha. I have a set myself, can't remember now exactly, but I think they were skunks! :))
