    (199 items)

I bought this off Ebay: Military knowing that it was a repop, but considered the price was right enough & the quality is very good. Poland is tossing out fakes at record speed. Wonder why they didn't figure out that "RZM" doesn't prove it a repop?
Wacky Jacky, my Kraut girlfriend past, didn't like the shadowbox I had with Nazi items in it. I took it down & sold most. I have reasoned & kind of have her interested in that era/error of her heritage.
Der Stahlhelm was a takeoff of the Freikorps originating in the 1750's as mercenaries that resurfaced after WWI as an unofficial police/anti-riot control needed in the turmoil after the war but also could be employed by industry for such things as breaking strikes. Legallity: very questionable. Many were inducted into the SA & Hitler had them disbanded in 1935. These were WWI veterans & were a serious power during their time. Very interesting if you care to read-up on them. They even ran a candidate against Hitler in elections.
Well, anyway, I decided that this would make a good centre piece in my shadowbox as I assemble things to surround it. Jacky won't allow any swastikas, so have to search for patches etc..
Can anybody help me with this "ORTSGRUPPE" & "GLATZ" thing? Gruppe I know but even Jacky doesn't know what the rest means. Any help out there?
Oh, the beard is gone now.
Jacky said that if her relatives & friends in Germany saw this that they would kill her! So, - I promised that nobody would see it. Never was good with promises! LOL!

You need to go topless to rock that medallion or at least 4 buttons open. Best pic is the last one.

Walks, is "GLATZ" the local branch then? I can only find the name as a city, now in Poland & a German industrialist. Still at speculation stage.
    7. walksoftly walksoftly, 8 years ago
Not sure, I found the town name as well.

    8. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
Caper, I tried it topless & it does cover most of the scar from heart surgery. LOL!! She's used to the scar. She was what caused it anyway! LOL!!

No info about the lettering on the gorget. They were worn by WWll military police of Germany. Hated not only by civilians, but by the German army as well. They were nicknamed the "Chained dogs" for their inhumane ferocity.
    10. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
Slack, what is the source of your info ? Hitler had them disbanded before the war. I haven't run upon the term, "Chained dogs" in any reference to them either. They obviously were a tough bunch & seem to have gained any authority by being armed & rough veterans.
    11. slackjack, 8 years ago
The source is my readings of history. I cannot quote chapter and verse. I have seen photos taken during the war of the police in action. Usually seen with German shepherds/Alsatians on leashes. But you are right, The SA was disbanded because Hitler needed the support of the army, not the SA. And Ernst Rohm liked young boys too much.

Hitler cured Rohm of his nasty habit. WWI vets would have been getting on the older side for serving as infantry but for officers & later in the Volkssturm.

Roy! How could my pix get on that site so fast? Even Whacky! That really surprised me! Nothing here works that fast.

lol I was set back on my heels as well...here you hate F B ..and now you and Jackie are world wide supper stars....lmao

Sorry blunderbuss couldn't help my self. Took me quite some time to even notice you where in the pic. Lol
    19. Caperkid, 8 years ago
And by the way I'm going to get a CW posts model. Tell Jakie I said hello.
    20. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
I told Jacky about it when she got off work & can't say she is happy about it. Not sure I want to be here when she takes a look at the site! She was raised until 14 yrs. old in E. Berlin & the Ruskies made her as fanatical anti-Nazi as the Nazi's were in their cult & they were a cult. I'm expecting moaning, & not in bed.
PS: Caper. She's just into boats & has turned down modeling many times. Been together off & on 5 yrs, & she has guaranteed that I will die with a smile. C'est l'vive bien! Her Grandfather died on the Russian front. It was a foul era in history that seems to live on & on.

Roy, that dessertation was really long & I learned a lot. Thanks! I still didn't find one mention of Der Stahlhelm. I'm still reading & had no idea that the Germanic race went so far into the areas SE of their wandering borders. Very interesting!

It has been mentioned that these were worn by Der Stahlhelm coulour bearers and the video contributed by Roy shows this clearly.

Roy, you sure got into this. My original idea was to surround the gorget with things related to it but, as you see. the prices were prohibitive for someone trying to get rid of stuff.
    28. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
Thanks to everybody for the LUVS & information provided. You have answered many of my questions but won't add "SOLVED" quite yet until I've wrung your brains dry! LOL! A whole new facet of post-WWI history has been opened. My honest opinion after all this, is that the impossible reparations imposed on Germany lead directly to the climate that formed Nazi Germany & led to WWII. What a shame! Greed again!

I'm still trying to understand how unofficial groups were allowed the power to police the masses when the country was in turmoil. Then I also see how the Klan did the same thing after the War For Southern Independence when Johnson placed black troops to rule the South & ex-slaves to serve as politicians. Somebody had to enforce the laws & make civilization work. Please don't throw Klan crap at me, but at that time in history, - it worked! They helped ease the transition. I think it was 1867 when they 1st disbanded because they had gotten things working in the South. I hate their movements today, but they had a purpose that worked when they were needed & disbanded when it was done. Their purpose today? Seems to be just pure hatred!

Had to let the "B" (For Berliner) get directly involved. LOL!!

Steve, great to hear from you & U are biased about beards! Takes more time to keep a neat beard trimmed, than it does to shave. Well, I am lucky in having super fine, slow growing hair & don't have to shave but every other day.
I was just thinking about those great engraved copper plates a few days ago & wondering what you did with them? Keep in touch more often! Hope everything is running fine with retirement. When are you coming over? I've got to go up to Uncle Sambo's Plantation in a few months & you & wife can house-sit. Truck & bike. bientot!

Steve, it's hard to find anybody in SXM who isn't bi-polar!. I'm certainly not in fear of running out of bi-polar girls to sleep with! Age is my enemy now. LOL!!

The Royal Enfield. The day I was buying it, I called a friend who had just bought one & he said to come by before I bought. They had welded the frame without putting the back axle mount in the jig. The rear wheel was angled. Told the dealer that I didn't need surprises later, like my friend.
