We found this ring in a box of jewelry purchased at a garage sale. The stones are a brownish red color, except for one stone. It is a true red color. There is also one stone missing. There are settings for 20 stones. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok....went to a jeweler. 18 stones are black star sapphire, 1 missing and one is a red stone. The jeweler did not specify what the red stone is.
Anyone have an idea what I should do with this ring? Ebay or an auction site.

You lucky duck! It's definitely gold. The stones look like garnets. JG stands for the Jack Gutschneider Jewelry Co., Inc.

Take to a jeweler and have it looked at. Congrats on the find!

I went to a jeweler today. The ring is 14k. However, I was completely wrong on the stone color. One stone is an odd red color. The other 18 stones are black star sapphires. Anyone know anything about age or about black star sapphires?
