I was so lucky to have bought this, another aspect of the range of Bernard Instones talents.
This for me is a wonderful find, with the silver enamel hammered spoon and napkin ring, decorated with colourful flowered enamel, with the original leather case. The spoon and enamel ring have his facsimile signature Bernard Instone and hallmark for birmingham, the set was made in 1929.
    Many thanks for looking

Hi Karen, I don't think I have nearly enough of his work, the next piece I really want is a Silver caddy spoon he made some lovely ones. He was just in my opinion a very talented man, I really wished he would have marked his pieces, I now think I have a good eye for his work, but he still does throws up some surprises.

Sorry didn't, read the" christening. "What is the spoon and napkin rings significance ? Is it for a particular religion ?
    13. Peasejean55 Peasejean55, 8 years ago
No, in the UK, when you were baptised, you would get a bible, silver spoons, napkin holder, money box, etc. It was usually given by the God parents.
