    Does anyone recognize this style pin. It is beautifully made and enameled. The unusual hinged back shows quality as does the entire piece but there are no marking. It measures 1 1/2" in height and 1 1/2" in width.

    Any information or comments would be appreciated.

      Thanks for your comments Efesgirl and katherinescollections. I stumbled upon this site - so interesting. I have another butterfly pin by David Andersen, Norway and this one is even of better quality so I know it must be something more than costume jewelry.

      New or replacement parts have been added to the back, but after staring at it for a long time I can't figure it out.
      Very pretty butterfly though.

      it may be for a scarf. I have a Har Smiling Buddha pin / scarf clip that has a spring back. The construction is somewhat similar.
