My wife inherited this figurine from a spinster aunt, who collected various items. We were told it was a Lladro, but from the little I've been able to find, it appears to be from another Valencia porcelain maker.
It stands 18" tall and the base is about 8" across.
Any insight into its age, or history would be appreciated.

This is very beautiful. But, I do not believe that this is a Lladró. I own a couple of Lladró figurines that are quite similar in style. I have them posted on CW. You can see in the link below that there were several porcelain makers in that region of Spain. This one is very nice!! Welcome to CW.

Not Lladro. There is just about zero on the web about the Rex porcelain factory. This factory makes more affordable porcelain figures smiliar to Lladro and Nao. That's about it.

Thanks to both of you for the info. You confirmed at least that Rex is the name of the factory.
The only other thing I'm curious about is when it was made.
One of the marks scratched in the bottom looks like it could be a date, but it's unclear and photographed poorly. looks like it could be 12/37 or 12/27. Seems too far back for this piece, but I'm not sure.
I would be willing to say that this piece was made within the last 30 years. Most of my Lladró pieces were made in the late '70s and early '80s. The nice thing about Lladró is that you can go to their site and they will show you when the particular figurine began and when they retired the mold.
As far as REX, I'm not too sure. But again, I'm thinking this was made within the last 30 years or so.
